Jerry is absolutely correct. The situation in
Illinois is currently very harsh and restrictive.
There is no doubt about it - the Harper decision
MUST be abolished ! As Jerry states, two laws
currently under consideration by our legislature -
HB 1720 and HB 3066, would do much to address the
inequities to which we are currently subjected to.
And, the tide is turning ! The legislators ARE
listening to us - not one, but THREE Illinois State
Senators attended the hearings on abuse of adjuncts
at COD on October 25th. But to get these passed,
we must ALL do our part and maintain contact with
the legislators - if citizens do not make the effort
to contact their representatives, this leaves an
impression of indifference and apathy. Here at CODAA,
we will constantly remind COD adjuncts of this
responsibility - it is no one else's but ours, to
see to it that better laws prevail.
