There has been much confusion about fees and benefits for the various types of CODAA membership. Thanks to Treasurer Diane Rzeszewski, the mystery is solved !

TYPE OF MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS COST PER YEAR WHEN CAN I JOIN ?
Union Membership: CODAA, IEA/NEA

Full contract rights, full IEA/NEA benefits, and full voting rights.

 A COD part time faculty member may become a union member in the fall of each academic year if:
  1. The part timer taught at least 18 credit hours the prior academic year, excluding summers, And

  2. The part timer taught at least two quarters, excluding summers, for any amount of credit hours, in the second and third years prior to eligibility, And,

  3. The part timer fills out the IEA/NEA form and returns it to CODAA.

  4. Grant funded part timers are not eligible to join.

$165.00*

*Part timers who belong to IEA/NEA through another school only pay the $25.75 local dues portion for CODAA
  1. HR determines eligibility of part timers each August.

  2. CODAA informs new members that they are now part of the union.

  3. Dues are automatically taken out in equal amounts from the 15 paychecks for the academic year, excluding summers.
Fair Share Fee Payers: CODAA, IEA/NEA

Full contract rights, limited IEA/NEA benefits, and no voting rights.

 Same as above, but members do not sign an IEA/NEA form.

 $145.00

 Same as above, only $20.00 less is taken out during the spring quarter. The $20.00 is the political action portion set by IEA each year.
Non-union membership, CODAA, IEA/NEA

Full IEA/NEA benefits and voting rights on any non-union election items.
  1. Teach part time at COD, credit or non-credit courses in any amount, And

  2. Fill out an IEA/NEA form and return it to CODAA.

 $165.00

 Pick up an IEA/NEA form from CODAA in IC2070 and return it with a check for $165.00 to CODAA’s mailbox in IC2070.
Non-union membership, CODAA only.

Full non-union membership rights in CODAA only.

 Teach part time at COD and/or support the goals of CODAA at COD.

 $30.00

 If you want to join, we are so glad to have you. Membership forms are found in every newsletter, near the CODAA bulletin board in IC2070, and on fliers distributed periodically to all part time faculty at COD. Just return the form and a check for $25.00 to CODAA in IC2070.
