Best decisions I ever made:
  1. to marry Ted, an brilliant electrical engineer
  2. to finish my master's degree
  3. to get involved in CODAA and to serve as president this year
Worst decisions I ever made:
  1. to try to run my children's lives after they are all grown up
  2. to not finish my doctorate when I was on page 103 in my dissertation.
  3. to hesitate in working with CODAA
Strengths as a teacher:
  1. my classes are fun
  2. my classes are personally enriching
  3. my classes are intellectually stimulating
Shortcomings as a teacher:
  1. assuming students know things they don't
  2. patience runs thin sometimes
  3. not firm on due dates
What am I proud of in my life:
  1. Worked for civil rights, women's rights, environmental rights, union rights
  2. Reduced significantly the number of potato chips in the world
  3. Built confidence and skills in students who lacked them
What do I want to accomplish in the future:
  1. Grow CODAA
  2. Get thin
  3. Get a full time job
Where else do I teach ?

What kind of students do I teach ?
  1. adults who are returning to finish their degrees--a joy to teach
  2. young adults who are bright, educated and talented--a pleasure to teach
  3. young adults who are unmotivated, unskilled, and undereducated--a challenge to teach
What is the range of compensation I receive for teaching a course ?
  1. low end, about $1200.00 for one course (24 contact hours), averaging $50.00 per hour in the classroom
  2. high end, about $1900.00 for one course (24 contact hours), averaging $79.00 per hour in the classroom
  3. COD, about $2200.00 for one course (55 contact hours), averaging $40.00 per hour in the classroom

Awards:I have won several grants and awards for my work, I have work in private collections in the United States Europe, Korea, and Japan.

Interesting Facts: My homestate is Iowa, my hometown is on the Mississippi. I transferred from Iowa State ( Go Clones ! ) to SAIC and received my BFA and MFA there.
My dog's name is Rusty (Boomer) and I have two parakeets who sing all day long.

Interesting Facts: Decided in graduate school to give charitable time to change how we fund our public schools in Illinois. (Sadly, cannot say we have been successful.)
Have had number of letters published on this complex policy in Illinois Issues, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and many other newspapers in our state.

Interesting Facts: Proud owner of an extroverted macaw that disassembles computer keyboards, removes knobs from audio equipment, tries to answer the telephone, and deletes computer files

  • Currently producing a multimedia portfolio on CD-ROM as a showcase for my images, video clips, interactive animations and music.
  • ( Work in progress ): Currently writing a book on HTML / Web Design. It is aimed at the beginning-to-intermediate Web designers and covers basic syntax, text formatting, images and optimization, tables, forms, frames, stylesheets, audio / video on Web pages, JavaScript, design considerations, and legal aspects of Web design.
  • Ongoing : Running my own Web design / computer graphics business.
