To keep you fully informed on the national search process for a successor to Dr. Michael T. Murphy, we are pleased to provide this most recent activity update:

• A presidential profile, including 13 preferred qualifications, has been developed. The Presidential Search Committee will refer to these qualifications in its evaluation of candidates.

• A newspaper display advertisement has been written and designed that invites applications and nominations for the position of President of College of DuPage. The advertisement notes the college's assets and challenges, preferred qualifications of applicants, that applications should be received at the college by Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, and that the successful candidate be available for employment as soon as possible and no later than July 1, 2003.

• The initial placement of the newspaper advertisement is scheduled in the Chronicle of Higher Education on Friday, Sept. 20. A second advertisement will appear in the publication two weeks later. Additional display advertisements will be placed in five other educational newspapers.

• A brochure detailing the presidential search, including a history, pictures and demographics of the college, will be mailed soon to about 1,200 individuals.

• The college web site, www.cod.edu/president/, has been updated to include the brochure information and the 13 preferred qualifications.
