Inspiration and Encouragement

Read about Logan !

This area has been introduced specifically as a morale booster for our members. You may read about all sorts of developments, which don't seem to have much immediate bearing on working conditions here. Or, you've been working with us, and are discouraged by the struggle.

For this reason, we have created this page as an inspiration, to show that adjuncts in Illinois as well as other states , have faced the same difficulties and have won, against seemingly impossible odds.

We also hope to show that the victories for adjuncts have been victories for the schools as well, resulting in better integration of a vital college constituency, thus creating a more productive institution.

If you find any uplifting stories or links you'd like to share, please send them to me. If e-mailing an article, send as basic e-mail text only, no attachments. Thank you,

CODAA Webmaster, Oleh Sydor

Just a quick reminder of what can be done when we organize... Consider :

IEA and part-timers teamed up at Columbia College and got an average 60% raise.

IEA and part-timers at Roosevelt University teamed up and got an average 57% raise over three years, as well as a signing bonus.

In Illinois

The most recent adjunct victory came at John A. Logan College in downstate Carterville.

Besides the organizing at Logan, please remember that Oakton College, Columbia College, and Roosevelt University, have all had similar triumphs in the not-so-recent past. Links to the part-time associations at these schools, can be found on our Links Page.
